Formal Parlor

I never know what to call this room.  Formal parlor sounded good.  I usually just call it the front room.  This is the "nice" room, and usually stays that way because it gets most use in the winter. This is where we set up the Christmas tree.  We added a faux fireplace in here too. T he player piano was kindly "donated" by my Aunt & Uncle.  We put lots of pictures on the top of it.  It's fun to walk by and be reminded of some of our many adventures.

The two pictures over the fireplace were found at my grandmother's, along with all the doilies you see. The two small lamps on the mantle belonged to my great aunt, as did the rocking chair.

The tall desk in the corner is Ben's. There are two antique books on it. The quilt is new and so is the turtle lamp on the floor.

The red velvet furniture is reproduction. The tapestry on the wall was also found in my grandmother's attic. It's unique in that it is created on cordouroy. The fan over the piano was found at a thrift shop for $3.

The lace tablecloth over the piano was my grandmothers also. The lamps are new.
