Kitchen

We remodeled our kitchen and laundry room in the fall of 2005.  Ben did most of the work himself.  It took a while to get done, but it is so worth it.  We now have a beautiful kitchen which we love and are proud of.  It has the feel of a quaint cafe.  I am no longer embarrassed to have people come into the house through the laundry room!

We didn't add any extra cabinets to the kitchen, except the one next to the dishwasher.  We also added more drawer space.  Before we only had 3 drawers!  Now we have 11.  Ben created the awning above the sink.  Pretty cool!

We had white walls before.  Now we have a faux plaster look in a caramel color.  When we first moved in the counter tops were red with chrome edging, Ick!  Then we replaced them with white counter tops, and now they are like a tan marble.  The moldings in here match the moldings in the living room.

The appliances and the sink are white.  Our old stove was green!  Remember those days?  We removed the door frame between the kitchen and laundry room to make it flow and feel like an extension of the kitchen.  I love the floor too!

We bought the new pub table and chairs as well.  You can see right out the window into the backyard when you sit on them.  I like that the table is high, because it is like extra counter space when I am fixing food (which let's face it, doesn't happen all that often!).

Here is the laundry room, now with cabinets!  Woo-hoo!  We only had an open shelf before.  We added the utility sink as well

We moved the hot water heater from the room to inside the closet, which was wasted space anyway.  We then added the much needed pantry space.  Across from this is the furnace, now neatly disguised behind a panel that matches the cabinets.

Here is our little kitchen angel, watching over us, hanging on to the molding for dear life.  She holds a different ornament for every month.
